In The Sims 4, death is an inevitable part of every Sim’s journey. Whether it’s due to natural causes like old age or unexpected events such as accidents with Murphy beds, the end will eventually come for all Sims. However, just because a Sim’s life has come to an end doesn’t mean it’s necessarily over for good.
For players who want to bypass the rules of the game and defy the Grim Reaper, there are methods available to bring deceased Sims back to life. By understanding and utilizing these options, players can give their favorite ghostly characters a second chance at living their virtual lives to the fullest.
Various Methods to Revive a Sim
There are five distinct approaches to bring a Sim back to life, as long as their ghost is still around. These techniques are:
- Utilizing the Book of Life
- Consuming Ambrosia
- Making a wish at the Wishing Well (Romantic Garden Stuff)
- Casting the Dedeathify Spell (Realm of Magic)
- Drinking Vitality Nectar (Horse Ranch)
These methods are more effective if the ghost is part of your household. You can add a Sim to your family by enabling testing cheats (enter “testingcheats on” in the cheat console) and shift-clicking on any Sim. Select “Add to Family.”
Preventing Death by Pleading
To save a Sim before their demise, plead for their life when the Grim Reaper arrives. While the Grim Reaper is in the process of reaping the deceased Sim, click on them and choose “Plead for Sim.” If successful, the Grim Reaper will not reap the Sim, and they will come back to life as they were before.
Use the Book of Life
The Book of Life offers a unique way to bring a Sim back to life, provided their soul is already bound to the book. To write the Book of Life, a Sim needs to achieve the highest level (10) in the Writing skill and complete the Bestselling Author aspiration.
Once the prerequisites are met, have your Sim:
- Go to any computer and select “Write” followed by “Book of Life.”
- Upon completion, the Book of Life will appear in your Sim’s inventory.
Keep in mind that the Sim must be alive for their soul to be bound to the book. To bind a Sim’s soul:
- Locate the Book of Life in the inventory.
- Select “Capture Epic Saga,” which brings up a list of Sims to choose from.
- Choose the Sim you want to preserve, ensuring their soul is bound to the Book of Life.
After the chosen Sim passes away, their ghost can read the Book of Life, restoring them to life in the process. This technique is handy for reviving Sims as long as their souls have been bound while they were still alive.
Eating Ambrosia
Ambrosia is a unique dish that can revive a ghost Sim. To prepare this dish, a Sim must possess level 10 Cooking and level 10 Gourmet Cooking skills. The ingredients needed for Ambrosia, along with their sources, are as follows:
- 1 Angelfish: Fish at locations like Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, San Myshuno, Newcrest, Brindleton Bay, Sulani, Magic Realm, or Forgotten Grotto.
- 1 Death Flower: Obtainable through Rare Seed Packets (requires level 10 Gardening skill) or by grafting a pomegranate and orchid (requires level 5 Gardening skill).
- 1 Potion of Youth: Available for purchase in the Rewards Store for 1,500 Satisfaction Points.
Catching an Angelfish can be challenging, as it is a rare species. A higher Fishing skill increases the chances of catching one, with Willow Creek and Oasis Springs serving as the most frequent locations.
After gathering the ingredients, simply click on a fridge or stove and choose to make Ambrosia. The ghost Sim can then consume the dish, bringing them back to life.
Wish At The Wishing Well
Ghost Sims have the opportunity to regain their lives through the Wishing Well, exclusive to the Romantic Garden Stuff Pack. It can be placed anywhere and purchased for 7,775 Simoleons under Skills and Activities > Miscellaneous.
To try restoring life, the ghost Sim should approach the Wishing Well and select “Make a Wish” followed by “Wish for Life.” The sum of Simoleons offered impacts the likelihood of a successful revival. There are various outcomes from this action:
- The Sim returns to life (Positive)
- The Sim receives Ambrosia ingredients (Somewhat Positive)
- The Sim acquires the Wish Not Granted sad moodlet (Neutral)
- The Sim almost revives but ends up with Just a Ghost sad moodlet (Somewhat Negative)
- The Sim gets the Accepted Fate happy moodlet (Negative)
If the ‘Accepted Fate’ moodlet is obtained, the Sim must wait out its duration before trying again.
It’s crucial to note that while the Accepted Fate moodlet is active, no other resurrection methods will be effective. Patience is required until the moodlet expires to attempt resurrection again.
Cast the Dedeathify Spell
Spellcasters in The Sims 4 have the ability to resurrect deceased Sims using the Dedeathify spell included in the Realm of Magic Game Pack. To access this option, your Sim must reach the Master rank as a spellcaster.
In order to learn the Dedeathify spell, your Sim needs to visit the magical Sages, L. Faba, Simeon Silversweater, or Morgyn Ember, located in the Realm of Magic. Form a friendship with any of these Sages through friendly interactions to increase the likelihood of them teaching your Sim Untamed spells, including Dedeathify.
Once your Sim has acquired the Dedeathify spell, they can easily bring a ghost back to life. Select the ghost, click on Spellcaster, and then choose the Dedeathify option to cast the spell and accomplish the resurrection.
Drink Vitality Nectar
In The Sims 4, a unique method to revive a deceased Sim is by consuming Vitality Nectar, which is accessible in the Horse Ranch Expansion Pack. Acquiring Vitality Nectar can be achieved in two ways: crafting it or receiving a bottle from a friend.
Forming a friendship with Roberto Crinkletop is vital, as this Sim has extensive knowledge of nectar recipes, including the Vitality Nectar recipe. Upon achieving a strong friendship, Roberto will also present your Sim with a bottle of Vitality Nectar.
To craft additional Vitality Nectar, follow this recipe:
Ingredient | How to Obtain Ingredients |
---|---|
Death Flower | – Purchase Rare Seed Packets (level 10 Gardening skill required) – Graft the flower using a pomegranate and orchid (level 5 Gardening skill required) |
Spinach | – Purchase Starter Vegetable Seed Packets |
After gathering the necessary ingredients, locate the Rootin’ Fruit’n Nectar Maker in Buy Mode for 350 Simoleons under Skills and Activities > Outdoor Activities.
Utilize the nectar maker to create bottles of Vitality Nectar, which can restore a ghost Sim back to life once consumed. This method offers an intriguing approach to resurrecting Sims and exploring the game’s unique features.
